Resume Critique

Hey everyone!

SASE is holding a joint resume critique with SHPE. Come meet members and learn how to improve your resumes from professionals! Refreshments and drinks will also be available while you wait for your turn!

Each person will be given 15-20 minutes one-on-one session with a company/organization professional to have your resume reviewed.

The event is business casual and, of course, resumes are required. Bring at least 5 copies of your resume if you are looking to speak with more than one professional.

Professional Headshots are being taken for those who are interested!

Want to polish up your interviewing and talking skills? SASE & MAES, Latinos in Engineering and Science, are holding a joint Mock Interview event. Come meet members from MAES. This is a great opportunity for you to brush up on your interviewing skills. We will be inviting some company representatives to interview you. You can use this chance to ask any questions and practice! This will be a good way to practice talking to company representatives and get advice from them!

PROMES Scholarship for SASE Nationals

Good evening, everyone!

SASE Nationals will be happening in Pittsburgh, PA on October 10th to 12th. Companies from across the nation will be recruiting for top talent with on-site interviews. There will also be professional workshops, and it is the perfect time and place to network.

If you are interested, we will be giving out 2 $125 PROMES scholarships. Based on the application linked below, we will decide who qualifies. You must be a PROMES scholar to be considered.

The scholarship will cover the National Conference registration fees. If you haven’t already, you can register here: https://conference.saseconnect.org/

The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, September 4th.

  • Time: 9-4pm
  • Date: Tues, September 10th and Wed 11th
  • Location: Engineering Building 2, 3rd Floor, Career Center
  • Need UHID to sign in.

Preparing for the Career Fair:

  • RSVP for the Career Fair via eCONNECTION
  • Review the employers attending on eCONNECTION and research their mission, vision, and open positions.
  • Decide which employers you would like to meet with and plan a strategy for speaking with them
  • Practice answering the “tell me about yourself” question or work on your Elevator Pitch
  • Pick out your Business Professional attire (Dress Code Policy)

Career Fair Etiquette:

  • Dress Code Policy : Business Professional
  • Resumés – Be sure to bring several copies of your professional resume
  • Shake hands firmly, but not too firm
  • Turn off or silence your cell phone
  • Be enthusiastic and positive during the fair
  • Be courteous of the recruiter’s time
  • Thank the recruiter for their time
  • Follow up with the recruiter, if possible
